Darragh McKeon ...

began directing whilst completing a B.A in UCD Dublin. Upon graduation, he interned at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. On his return to Ireland, he was chosen as a candidate for the inaugural "Seeds" Director training programme run by Rough Magic Theatre Company. On the programme he was mentored by Laszlo Marton in the Vigsinhaz Theatre in Budapest and collaborated with several European directors including Suzanne Osten with Unga Klara Theatre Company, Stockholm and Falk Richter in the Schaulbuhne Berlin. In addition, he served as an Assistant Director on Rough Magic’s production of The Life of Galileo by Bertholt Brecht. The "Seeds" initiative culminated in his production of Ferenc Molnar’s Liliom in the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2005. Darragh directed the inaugural Mangiare production of The Fever by Wallace Shawn, subsequently joining the company as an associate director in 2006. Since then he has directed A Play on 2 Chairs and The Evils of Tobacco and The Bear for Mangiare. Other directing work includes Frank Pig Says Hello by Pat McCabe, Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuinness, Macbeth, Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello and Nocturne by Adam Rapp.

Darragh has received intensive training in the Viewpoints and Suzuki Techniques with Anne Bogart and the SITI company in Saratoga New York. He has also worked extensively with Blue Raincoat Theatre Company. Darragh has recently completed several projects with the Young Vic Theatre in London, working as an Assistant Director to Rufus Norris on Vernon God Little and devising and directing The Blank Room as part of the Young Vic Shorts initiative.
