For one night only, on Monday May 22nd, deep inside the Paris metro, the Irish theatre company Mangiare will present MetroProject: an innovative theatre event that takes place onboard the Paris metro. Featuring five directors, four playwrights, three live musicians (with musical director Steve Wickham), and over twenty actors, MetroProject is five original short plays that run one after the other on the Metro Line 8 as it travels from station Bonne Nouvelle to Bastille and back. Exploring images of Paris, travel, modern humanity, connection and dis-connection, the individual and the crowd, and other themes evocative of life in the metropolis, the five plays unfold as the audience journeys onboard the carriage of the Paris metro. Featuring new plays about sex, violence, love found, tickets lost, the industrial revolution, and experimental physics – all accompanied by a live soundtrack – the MetroProject is an innovative piece of truly underground theatre…
